40 weeks

Lets hope this is the last weekly photo I have to do this pregnancy!

I woke up yesterday in that "cleaning" mood. I cleaned the kitchen, the bathrooms, did some laundry and nothing happened. I took Liam to school, took Jonas to the library, made lunches, went to my antenatal appointment (where I had to park super far away), picked Liam up from school, more laundry, made dinner and still nothing. By the time I went to bed last night my body was SO tired. My symphysis pubis was hurting worse than it has for a long time and on top of that my hips were aching as well. I could hardly walk. Once I got to bed things weren't that much better. Between potty breaks, a few contractions, hip pain, rolling over and bad dreams I didn't get much sleep. So today I am feeling just as sore. I can still hardly walk.

The antenatal appointment was kind of a disappointment. I haven't seen my regular midwife in a couple of appointments. Last time the midwife made it sound like if I made it to my due date they would right away get me in to see the dr and see if things were moving along at all and to see if there was anything they could do to help things (she mentioned something about a gel...). This appointment I had a different midwife who scheduled me for an appointment with the dr next Wednesday (the 28th). I can't imagine that I will make it to that appointment but then again, I didn't think I'd make it to 40 weeks either! :)

Today the plan is to do the opposite of yesterday and basically do nothing. What's the point of going cleaning crazy if it doesn't bring a baby!?

Our Little Artist

Liam has become quite the little artist lately. He loves to draw and we (and his teachers) are always amazed at how good some of his drawings are. Even when he is watching a movie he will usually have paper and markers with him so he can draw. Sometimes he wants me to help him draw something. I always try and talk him into drawing whatever it is himself because he is so much better than me (at 5, almost 6 years old!). Usually he won't give up until I just draw it (and usually he isn't satisfied with how I've drawn it).

Yesterday he wanted me to draw a pterodactyl. I went ahead and tried even though I couldn't remember off the top of my head exactly how they are shaped. After I finished I noticed Liam cracking up. I thought for sure he was laughing at something Jonas or Nate had done until I looked up and realized he was looking right at my drawing.

"It looks like a pterodactyl butterfly!" ha ha ha ha

After seeing my pitiful drawing he finally decided he would try to draw one on his own. Just like I thought his was MUCH better than mine!

39 weeks

Still Pregnant

I really didn't think I'd make it to 39 weeks but I can't say I blame her for wanting to stay in there as long as she can. It's cold out here!

38 weeks

I am ready for her to come any time she is ready (unless she is not ready until after her due date)! I have been feeling extra tired but that probably has something to do with the cold I have. Plus I have had to make lots of extra trips to the potty at night so sleep hasn't been that great.

This last week some good friends of mine threw me a baby shower. It was fun to see so much pink! We had a good time, played some cute games and had yummy foods. I am so grateful for the friends I have made here! One of my friends is in midwifery school right now and wanted to feel my belly. She told me there is lots of room left for her to grow in there! I thought she was packed super tight already but I guess there are some "squishy" spots left. If she does stay in much longer and get bigger I really hope she'll use what space she already has and not expand my belly any more. I'm not sure my skin can handle it. I have been studying that picture from the day before I had Jonas and I would swear I am bigger now than I was with him (and remember, he was 8 lbs, 5 oz!).

Yesterday I had an antenatal appointment. Everything looked and sounded fine. She is now 4/5 engaged. I have contractions every day but nothing to get excited about. I have no idea if I am starting to dilate because they don't check you. I asked the midwife about that and it sounds like they won't ever check me unless I go over my due date. Not my favorite thing in the world (to be checked) but I would really like to know whats going on. I guess now we just wait!

Eenie, meanie, minie what?

Earlier Liam was trying to decide if he wanted a cookie or marshmallows. He said he was going to do eenie, meanie, minie, moe to help him decide. This is what he said:

Eenie, Meanie, minie, moe
Catch a peacock by the toe
if it squeals, let it go
eenie, meanie, minie moe

It cracked me up because it is different from the eenie, meanie, minie moe I knew growing up.

Eenie, meanie, minie, moe
Catch a tiger by the toe
If he hollers let him go
Eenie, meanie, minie, moe

When I told him he said he knew another one too:

Eenie meanie minie moe
catch a fishie by the toe
if it squeals, let it go
eenie, meanie, minie moe

Happy 4th...

There are quite a few American families in our ward so we thought it would be fun to get together and celebrate the 4th of July. A family from Utah, the Riley's, hosted (he is in our Bishopric). They didn't have a barbecue (and its pretty much freezing so we probably wouldn't have wanted to barbecue anyways) so they made pulled pork sandwiches! We also had pasta salad, potato salad, baked beans, veggies and dip, cookies, chips, root beer and this amazing flag cake that Sister Riley made.

It was a lot of fun to be with other Americans and eat like Americans! You wouldn't think the food would be that different but the salads and pork were all very different from what you might typically have at an Aussie get together.

After lunch we went out in the backyard to light some sparklers! At first Liam and Jonas were afraid of them. I guess it makes sense that a stick on fire might scare them! After they got used to them and realized they weren't going to get burned they loved it. For the rest of the day they were talking about getting more sparklers to do in our yard. We have big plans to get more and do them at night!

We also serenaded their neighbors with the Star Spangled Banner while we waved our sparklers. Doesn't Jonas look like he is singing above? "Oh say can you see...."

Some of our other American friends...

The aftermath of our wild sparkler party!

We hope you all have a great 4th of July with a wild sparkler party of your own!
