Meet Lychee

I work at a grocery store and I had been seeing this strange fruit coming through my line called Lychees. I knew I had to try it. I remember when I was first introduced to Kiwi I wouldn't touch it because it looked so weird it couldn't possibly taste good. When I finally tried it I was so mad at myself for not trying it before. I was really missing out. So I finally picked up a few of these little guys and was excited for us all to try them. I was hoping they might be a lot like strawberries! After figuring out how to crack the shell and trying them I must say I am not a big fan. Nothing like Strawberries! They are nice and sweet but the texture is too much for me to handle. A little "boingy" if you know what I mean (My mom will understand). Not what I expect when I eat fruit. It was fun trying something new!

Overstayed Welcome

There has a been a possum living in our car port/roof for a while now. At first it was kind of fun to see but then it started pooping on our car and peeing down the walls (Sick!!). We called our landlords to see if there was anything we might do to get rid of him. The problem is they are a protected animal so you can't just shoot them or trap them or anything inhumane. Our landlord heard that they don't like the smell of moth balls (me either) and if you hang them where they like to sleep they will go away. Our nice, little 85 year old landlord came over one day to hang them up all over the place (we don't have a ladder so we couldn't do it on our own). The next night he was back again like he owned the place. I have a feeling the smell doesn't bother him...

Better Late than Never

I feel like I always wait too long to cut my boy's hair. Then we will be out somewhere and I will realize that they probably should have haircuts weeks ago. This time was no different. We were at church a couple weeks ago and I looked down at them running all over the place with their hair over their ears, wet from sweating and knew it was definitely time (or past time). We finally got around to it yesterday. As you can see Liam gets really excited about having his hair cut. If you could see my face I would probably be making a similar expression. Cutting hair is not one of my favorite things to do!

cutest feet ever

I've never been a big fan of crocs (no offense if any of you like them/own them). But when I found these little ones for $4 I couldn't resist. His little feet look so cute in them! I was also hoping that they would get me out of having to put Jonas' shoes on him every time we go outside. Too bad he still asks me all the time!

Botanical Gardens

On December 30th we went to the Botanical Gardens. We had a nice walk around and saw some cool plants.

Sleepy Heads, part 2

I have finally made a decision. Liam and Jonas have shared a room ever since Jonas has been sleeping through the night. I hesitated separating them because they are such sweet brothers (sometimes) and this is what I would find most night when I went in their room to check on them:

Sweet, right? It would be except that for the hour following up to this moment there would be fighting, doors slamming, sneaking out of the room, screaming and crying. But every night when I went into their room after they fell asleep I would see the above and forget everything that had just happened. Finally after one too many trips into their room to turn off the lights and put them back in their own beds with a warning that they better stop fighting/screaming/playing loudly, they were separated. They have been in their own rooms now for a few nights and can you guess what has happened? They go to sleep! I don't know what I was waiting for. I am sure at some point they will be roommates again but until then I am going to enjoy my quiet evenings after bedtime.

The Evolution of my Purse

When I was in high school I wouldn't be caught dead with a purse. I could usually just get away with keeping my debit card/cash in my back pocket (I didn't get my license until I was 19). When I started driving I had the smallest purse I could find and was so happy to find one of these wallet-purses at Eddie Bauer.

I got away with this for years. I knew people who loved purses so much that they had a bunch of different ones and would even move their stuff around from purse to purse. Ugh! I just couldn't imagine liking purses so much that you would have MORE THAN ONE!

For Christmas last year my sister-in-law/parents-in-law got me this really cute reversible grayish corduroy purse with pink and gray plaid on the other side. I think this is the point where I fell in love with purses. It was so nice to be able to fit my keys, sunglasses, chap stick, receipts, cards, money, camera...anything I wanted into my purse without worrying about it still closing.

A few months later when we met up for a family reunion in Pennsylvania they found another purse that they thought I should have. It has lots of different colored stripes on it. I LOVE IT!

This year for Christmas Nate picked out (meaning I emailed him the link to the one I wanted) this lovely purse for me. I can't tell you how much I love this thing. It is HUGE (big enough that I could fit a binder in it...if I had one). The circles are this nice, soft fabric. I could just pet it all day long. I think I am officially addicted to purses!

If my high school self could see me now she would be shaking her head in disgust.
